CORIUS Conference 2026: State-of-the-art training and networking for dermatologists

Lectures and workshops offer the highest level of dermatological training to doctors in the CORIUS network.

Frankfurt am Main. The CORIUS Conference took place in Frankfurt am Main for the fourth consecutive year on 17 and 18 April 2026. The Meliá City Frankfurt was once again the host venue for the conference. Around 150 specialists and doctors in postgraduate training from the CORIUS network came together to discuss current topics in dermatology and phlebology, take away actionable insights, and exchange ideas in person. The event, set up as internal training within the CORIUS Academy, provided a structured framework for sharing knowledge and networking, including 22 specialist lectures, two panel talks, four guest lectures and four workshops. The schedule was supplemented by a specialist exhibition featuring 25 partners from the field of dermatology.

From innovation to practical organisation: Dermatology in transition

The CORIUS Conference 2026 covered a wide array of dermatology-related topics. Alongside current developments in dermato-oncology (including ‘Neoadjuvant therapy for malignant melanoma’) and dermatological aesthetics (including ‘Botulinum toxin: Tips and tricks for the upper face’), the focus was on advances in angiology/phlebology/surgical dermatology and inflammatory dermatoses, as well as technological innovations. The increasing use of artificial intelligence was also discussed at length. ‘Integrating AI into dermatology – especially in skin cancer prevention – will fundamentally change everyday practice. At the same time, as dermatological experts, we remain an indispensable interface and supervisory authority in classifying diagnoses and therapy responsibly,’ said Dr. med. Toni Silber (MVZ Hautzentrum Obere Wässere) on AI-related developments in dermatology.

Practice-oriented and interactive: Training with real added value

A key component of the CORIUS Conference is the integration of scientific content with practice-oriented formats. Following the excellent response to last year’s workshops, this year the programme was expanded to include an additional workshop. Participants could choose from four interactive workshops: surgical dermatology, dermato-oncology diagnostics, dermatohistopathology, and dermatosurgical suture techniques.

Another highlight were the panel talks, which led to lively discussions between speakers and participants. As part of the first panel talk, ‘Dermatological care structures: The state of play’, Prof. Dr. med. Uwe Reinhold (MVZ Dermatologisches Zentrum Bonn), Priv.-Doz. Dr. med. Dr. med. univ. Lukas Kofler (MVZ Hautzentrum am Holzmarkt und Hautklinik am Holzmarkt) and Andreas Joehle (Ufenau Capital Partners) discussed what dermatology will look like in 2030 and what influence AI will have on dermatology and patient care. The speakers were all in agreement: dermatology in 2030 will be an exciting, diverse and patient-centred field. Prof. Dr. med. Uwe Reinhold (MVZ Dermatologisches Zentrum Bonn) summed up the outlook for 2030 as follows: ‘AI is a complementary measure that is intended to help doctors make decisions. It will not replace them, though – it will help with the heavy lifting in their work. The only question is whether training assistants will be able to use AI in such a way that they maintain quality in the basic skills that have to be learnt without support from AI.’ The second panel talk, ‘Using AI in everyday practice’, focused on the future-focused topic of man and machine. The event was kicked off with a keynote speech by Dr. med. Bernd Grossmann (MVZ FOKUS HAUT), who used concrete, practical case studies from his practice in Koblenz to demonstrate how AI applications can already be used today in everyday medical life and what value they can add. The session concluded with a lively panel discussion on the topic of ‘AI in everyday practice’ between Priv.-Doz. Dr. med. Dr. med. univ. Lukas Kofler (MVZ Hautzentrum am Holzmarkt und Hautklinik am Holzmarkt), Prof. Dr. med. Uwe Reinhold (MVZ Dermatologisches Zentrum Bonn) and Prof. Dr. med. Khusru Asadullah (Dermatologie Potsdam MVZ). The discussion convincingly demonstrated the broad spectrum of opportunities, challenges and open questions surrounding the use of AI in medical practice. Prof. Dr. med. Khusru Asadullah (Dermatologie Potsdam MVZ) pointed out the following future trends in dermatology: ‘I can see two key trends. The overriding one is the digitisation of medicine, which opens up completely new possibilities, especially with AI. Another trend will be the personalisation of medicine. The aim is to give patients the right dosage of the right active ingredient at the right time. The drugs of the future will come as a twin pack: active ingredient and diagnostic test.’

Focus on networking: Exchange as a factor for success

In addition to professional development, particular focus was placed on personal exchange within the CORIUS network. The event offered a compact setting in which experiences could be shared openly and different perspectives discussed. Dr. med. Daniela Greiner-Krüger (MVZ MediCorium) emphasised cooperative exchange within the conference setting: ‘Cooperative exchange is of vital importance. When you’re part of the CORIUS network, you feel like you’re in a safe space. All the participants were interested in advancing their practices through newly acquired knowledge, and there was an extraordinary level of open, collegial exchange.’

Continuing professional development is crucial

The CORIUS Conference 2026 once again highlighted the importance of CPD and training within the network. This is not a one-off, but a crucial part of collaborative medical practice and a key building block for the continuous development of patient care. ‘The CORIUS Conference is a key part of our shared medical development. Year after year, it shows how important personal exchange and CPD are for the quality of dermatological and phlebological care in our network,’ concluded Heidi Niemöller, Managing Director of the CORIUS Group.
